Automotive Industry Standard SAE AMS3301K

SAE AMS3301K-2024 is a silicone rubber (MQ/VMQ) elastomer material standard developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), mainly used for seals, pipes, molded parts and other products in automotive, industrial equipment and other fields. The following is a summary of its core content:

  1. Scope of Application
    • Material type: Applicable to elastomer materials based on silicone rubber (MQ/VMQ), which can be processed into sheets, strips, tubes, extrusions, and molded products.
    • Excluded scenarios: Explicitly not applicable to molded rings, compression seals, O-ring strips, and field-molded gaskets in the aerospace field.
    • Application fields: Mainly targeting sealing environments in automotive engines, gearboxes, fuel systems, etc., which need to withstand high and low temperatures, oils, and chemical media.
  2. Technical Features:
    1. Excellent ozone resistance and weather resistance; operating temperature range of -60°C to 200°C; related to Class 4 (plastic-compatible) of MIL-PRF-6855.
    2. Hardness: 35-45 Shore A; tensile strength: ≥4.1 MPa; compression set: ≤30% (200°C × 24h).
    3. Tensile strength: With reference to similar silicone rubber standards (e.g., SAE AMS3346G), the minimum tensile strength is estimated to be approximately 6.89 MPa (1000 psi).
